Ethics and Legal Consultations
Chapter Ethics Consultations:
As a service, NASW Oregon provides free ethics consultations to current NASW members. These consultations are a resource for members who are experiencing an ethical dilemma. We do not provide advice or tell members what to do. However, we do guide them through the Code of Ethics and point them to the areas that address their concerns. We provide dialogue and considerations that allow members to make ethical decisions. We may also refer members to the appropriate areas if their questions do not appear to be related to ethics but are more related to legal issues or standards of practice. To request an ethics consultation, call the chapter at 503-452-8420 or 888-842-8420.
National NASW Ethics Consultations:
As a current member, you may also request a free consultation from the National NASW Office of Ethics & Professional Review by calling 800-638-8799 ext. 231 or 202.336.8231 during the following days/hours:
Tuesdays: 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. PST
Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. PST
National NASW Legal Consultations:
As an NASW member, you may schedule a free consultation on social work-related legal matters with the legal staff based on availability. Calls are answered Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 PT. Call the Consultation Line at (202) 408-8600, ext. 592. Members can leave a message, and the call will be returned from the Office of General Counsel. The member can also leave an email address so that resources can be provided if appropriate.
